Logistics Manager (m/f/d)
Every made-to-order parcel, onto the best carrier, at the best rate, out the door on time. That is your number to own.
The Customization Group
Logistics Manager
(outbound & carrier) (m/f/d)
Own packaging, outbound shipping and carrier management end to end — from the closed package to the moment the customer opens it. Negotiate the carrier deals, steer the local outbound team, and run it all on the numbers. Based at Szczecin.
Are you the person who reads the shipping data before the daily stand-up, knows every carrier rep by name, and would rather fix the root cause of a late-delivery spike than escalate it? We are looking for a Logistics Manager to own packaging, outbound shipping and carrier management across our European dispatch operation — all the way to the customer's door.
AT A GLANCE
Locations: Bitterfeld-Wolfen or Szczecin, on site, near Leipzig preferred, Berlin is also fine, EU based candidate.
Reports to: SVP Global Operations (Torsten Harnau)
Team: Cross-functional matrix, no direct reports
Scope: Closed package to open package at the customer — packaging, outbound, carriers. Single-parcel, e-commerce
Start date: By end of September, one-month handover
About TCG
The Customization Group is a global leader in mass customization and print-on-demand e-commerce. We manufacture up to 2.5 million unique, personalized products daily across production sites in Germany, Poland and the USA. Millions of customers find us through our 20+ online shops and 1,000+ partner stores. Our 750+ team members come from 40+ nationalities and work at the intersection of manufacturing, e-commerce, and AI.
Outbound is where our promise to the customer either holds or breaks. Every item is made to order, so how it is packed, which carrier it goes on, and what condition it arrives in is the last, decisive step. This role owns that step, end to end.
The Role
Your responsibility starts when the package is closed and ends when the customer opens it. That covers a part of packaging, outbound shipping, and the carrier relationships and negotiations behind it. This is a data-driven, coordinative role in a matrix organization: you have no direct team, but you steer the local outbound team on site and work hand in hand with the Data team. You are expected to understand how the numbers fit together — where the data comes from, how order, production, dispatch, carrier scan and delivery data connect, and why a metric moved — not just read a finished report. It sits at the interface between operations, data and management, so influence and clear reporting matter more than headcount.
In a nutshell: Get every parcel packed right, onto the best carrier at the best rate, and into the customer's hands on time. Prove it with the numbers.
Location: Szczecin in Poland, with occasional travel to Leipzig (Germany).
What You Will Do
→ Own the parcel end to end: From the closed package to the opened package at the customer. Run the dispatch of made-to-order parcels, keep the outbound flow moving reliably, and stay accountable for what happens in transit and at the doorstep.
→ Own packaging, in part: Packaging formats, materials and cost, and how those choices drive damage rates and carrier pricing. Packaging and shipping decisions get made together, not in two silos.
→ Manage and negotiate with carriers: Own the relationships end to end, from rate negotiation to service levels to escalations when a shipment goes wrong.
→ Understand the numbers and act on them: Delivery accuracy, cost per shipment, lead times, damage and claim rates. You know how these figures are built and how they connect, so you spot the drift early and fix the cause, not the symptom.
→ Develop new shipping methods: Find and test more cost-effective and innovative ways to pack and ship, not just run the carriers already in place.
→ Steer the local outbound team: Coordinate outbound work on site in a matrix setup, without direct reports, through clear direction and shared numbers.
→ Work the handoffs: Stay close to Production, Customer Service and the Data team so outbound problems are caught before the customer sees them.
→ Improve the process: Use automation and AI to take manual work out of shipping and get results faster.
Who We're Looking For
Sounds like you?
→ Strong experience in carrier management and outbound shipping, gained in e-commerce.
→ Experience managing single-parcel shipments at volume, not container or full-load freight.
→ Deep in the data: you work with the underlying numbers, not only finished reports. You can trace a figure back to its source, understand how the systems connect, and hold your own with a Data team.
→ Exposure to packaging decisions — formats, cost, damage rates — or a clear willingness to own that side.
→ Genuinely hands-on: you get things done yourself rather than only delegating across teams.
→ Comfortable working through a matrix, steering people you do not manage directly.
→ Able to be on site at least half the time at Bitterfeld-Wolfen or Szczecin, and based in Europe.
→ A plus: basic understanding of customs processes, working knowledge of a TMS, SQL or comparable hands-on data skills, and using AI tools to automate parts of your work.
Not part of this role: inbound logistics, warehouse operations, and stock, SKU, inventory or materials management. You own packaging as a decision — what we pack in and what it costs — not the packing line as daily work.
Probably Not A Fit If…
→ You are looking for fully remote work. This is an on-site role in Szczecin, with occasional travel to our production in Germany
→ Your background is warehouse operations or inventory management. That is explicitly not this role.
→ Your shipping experience is containers or full-load freight rather than single parcels at volume.
→ You prefer to receive the analysis rather than dig into the data yourself. Here the numbers are the job.
→ You want a large team to delegate to. This is a hands-on matrix role with no direct reports.
Why This Role, Why Now
→ The volume is real. Up to 2.5 million made-to-order products a day across the group. A small packaging, carrier or routing improvement is worth measuring.
→ Ownership of the whole chain. Packaging, carrier and delivery sit with one person here instead of being split across three. This is your operation to run, not a seat in a large team. Everyone here is enabled to automate their own workflows with current tooling.
→ Why it is open. A backfill. The current role holder is moving on, and we want a one-month handover, so there is real knowledge to inherit rather than a cold start.
Who You Will Work With
You report to our SVP Global Operations and work closely with senior management and the Data team.
What We Offer
→ Compensation: Fixed salary plus a performance bonus. We discuss the range openly in the first recruiter call. Permanent, full-time.
→ Real scale: up to 2.5 million made-to-order parcels a day across the group, where a small packaging or routing improvement is worth measuring.
→ Ownership from day one: this is your operation to run, not a seat in a large team.
→ An AI-first culture where you are enabled to automate your own workflows with current tooling.
→ A one-month handover with the current role holder to get you up to speed.
→ International experience across colleagues in Germany, Poland and the USA.
How We Hire
→ Recruiter screen: A short call to check direction and fit. The hiring manager may join briefly to set context.
→ Assessment: A standard online hard-skills and soft-skills assessment.
→ Hiring manager interview: A deeper conversation on your carrier, packaging, outbound and data track record.
→ General management: A final round with senior management.
Not sure you meet every requirement? We encourage you to apply, even if your experience doesn't match every qualification listed. What matters most is real carrier and outbound shipping experience, a data-driven way of working, and the drive to own the result end to end.
